Introduction

Rabies virus (RABV) is a non-segmented, negative-sense, single-stranded RNA virus that primarily infects the central nervous system of animals and causes a severe acute infectious disease. A wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, bats, foxes, raccoons, skunks, and cattle, can become infected with the virus. Among them, dogs are an important source of rabies transmission and human exposure. The virus is mainly present in the nervous tissues and saliva of infected animals and may be transmitted through bites, scratches, or contact of virus-containing saliva with mucous membranes or open wounds.

Early clinical signs in infected animals may be nonspecific. As the disease progresses, affected animals may develop behavioral changes, increased aggression, difficulty swallowing, excessive salivation, ataxia, paralysis, and other neurological signs. Once obvious clinical symptoms of rabies appear, the prognosis is generally extremely poor. Therefore, timely and accurate detection of the pathogen is essential for animal disease prevention and control, exposure risk assessment, and public health management.

The Rabies Virus (RABV) Real-Time Fluorescent RT-PCR Detection Kit uses reverse transcription real-time fluorescent polymerase chain reaction technology for the specific detection of rabies virus RNA in clinical specimens collected from dogs, cats, and other animals. The kit offers high sensitivity, strong specificity, and rapid detection and can be used for the laboratory-assisted diagnosis of rabies virus infection, pathogen screening, and epidemiological surveillance.
